Do you need help finding your way?
We all experience challenges in our lives, some that exceed our abilities to cope and leave us feeling stressed, depressed, anxious, or lost.
Avoiding these challenges can result in a range of other difficulties such as sleeping problems, negative thoughts and self-criticism, poor concentration, physical symptoms (e.g., headaches, digestion problems, and muscle tension), and conflict in our relationships with family, friends, and work colleagues. However, by facing these challenges, as difficult and frightening as that may seem, we grow stronger and gain freedom and control of our lives.
It’s important to remember that humans are social animals, and we derive strength and meaning from relationships with others. Showing vulnerability and asking for help can be one of our greatest strengths, not our weakness.
Odyssey Psychology can assist you in finding the courage to face your challenges and help you develop skills to cope with a range of mental health difficulties and symptoms.
We can help you face your challenges

Sleep problems and insomnia
Sleep is one of the most important processes for physical and mental health, however, it is often overlooked and undervalued. Poor sleep impacts attention, memory, concentration, physical performance, and emotional regulation, leading to feeling sluggish and irritable the following day. Continuous poor sleep can lead to a downward spiral of worrying about sleep quality, which results in difficulty falling asleep and further sleep issues. Odyssey Psychology can help you understand the underlying factors contributing to your sleep issues and assist you in developing strategies to regulate your circadian rhythms and get into a healthy sleep routine.
Disordered eating, body image, and self-esteem
Pressure to conform to cultural standards of beauty (e.g., young thin/muscular bodies) can feel overwhelming for some people, resulting in a highly controlled and constricted life. This may look like strict daily exercise routines, obsessive dieting rules, fighting the urge to eat and then dealing with feelings of shame, guilt, and disgust when finally giving in, and social isolation from continually declining to attend social events due to concerns about eating in front of other and fear of judging eyes. Odyssey Psychology can support you to break free of the cycle of control and failure and the feelings of inadequacy that come with it, and help you develop a healthy relationship with food and your body.
Stress and anxiety disorders
Anxiety can vary from a mild uneasy feeling, worry, and tension, to a more severe sympathetic nervous system response including rapid heart rate, difficulty concentrating, dissociation, and a range of physical symptoms (e.g., headaches, nausea, and digesting issues). Anxiety eventually leads to avoidance of situations that cause the anxiety which can greatly impact wellbeing and quality of life. Odyssey Psychology can help you understand your anxiety and work with you to develop strategies to lessen the severity of the symptoms so you can regain control over your life.
